Residents of Mandela Village, Marokolong, Ramotse, Kekana Gardens and Babelegi Industrial were warned by the Tshwane Municipality against drinking water from taps on Thursday.

The notice said water quality in the area deteriorated after a power interruption at the Magalies Water’s Klipdrift Package Plant, last week.

Now the Tshwane Municipality said on Saturday, the 15th February 2025, that water is now safe to drink.

The City said it was confirmed at a meeting on Saturday, that the water is safe to use, by  Magalies Water and the Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation.

The City also said tests and further flushing of the distribution system, conducted on the 13rd February 2025, indicate there was no non-compliance on any water quality parameters.

Some residents have responded with skepticism to this message to use tap water in Hammanskraal.

Mantwa Lehong shared a picture of discoloured water, while a few residents said City officials must first drink the water before they can consume it (Mantsha Nelukalo, Princess Charlotte and more).
