Police used stun grenades, rubber bullets, and teargas, to disperse a large group of protesters at the Point in Durban.
The group was assaulting people and wrecking businesses.
Protesters also stoned cars along the M1 and Umlazi Interchange.
There was more fire and looting at King Dinuzulu Road and a third property, believed to be a brothel, was set alight.
Protesters also occupied South Coast Road, Himalayas Road offramp and blocked the road with trees.
Thami Ntuli, Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, said on Friday, he requested the deployment of soldiers to calm tensions.
The MTN 8 fixture planned for Saturday evening, between soccer giants, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, is expected to go ahead at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
