About 14 suspects believed to be foreign nationals, were arrested by a multi agency operation, in Sydenham, eThekwini.
The police recovered and seized an estimated 14 million cell-phone accessories, valued at an estimated R27 million.
Colonel Boysie Zungu, Metro Police spokesperson said “ if you follow our trail in infiltrating illegal drug use, businesses and ensuring by-law enforcement throughout the City, we are immensely elated at the major strides we’ve taken in partnering with provincial and national law enforcement institutions.”
The multi-disciplinary operation was made up of the South African Police Service, the Provincial and National Counterfeit, Contraband and Illicit Goods Units, the Provincial Drugs and Firearm Unit, the Provincial CIT Task Team, the National Intervention Unit, Public Order Policing KZN, Metro Police SOD1 Bylaw Special Operations and ORS Crime Prevention, Border Management Authority, Customs National Rapid Response Team and Brand Holders Representatives.
