Motorists are advised to avoid the R63 via Bhisho.

This follows an accident where a truck transporting timber collided head-on with a Hyundai i20. 

The Department of Transport in the Eastern Cape, said a 54 -year old woman, who was driving the light vehicle, died on the scene. 

The truck driver sustained minor injuries.

“Emergency services and law enforcement are in attendance, and the road will be closed for several hours to allow for the safe removal of wreckage and clearing of the scene” said the Department.

Motorists travelling to King William’s Town and Gqeberha, are urged to turn off after Kei Cuttings near Thomson Farm from the Mthatha side (right-hand side on the N2).

Those travelling to Komga and Port Alfred, are advised to divert via Chaffle Road and rejoin the N2 at Gonubie.
