Willie Aucamp, the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DAFFE)  tabled the department’s R9.127 billion allocation for the 2026/27 financial year.

Speaking at the Budget Vote Tuesday, Aucamp said the priority is to support environmental protection, job creation and service delivery for the people of South Africa.

This includes R514 million investments for the management of the small-scale fishing sector and close to R1 billion through the EPWP programme, expected to support 116 000 work opportunities.

“This is a balanced budget. A budget that has been constrained by budget cuts, but one where we have worked with our money in such a way that it will benefit the environment, job creation and the people of South Africa” said Aucamp.
