Rand Water says a video that went viral, claiming that water in a dam supplying Gauteng was poisoned, is false.
Rand Water’s Makenosi Maroo, said in a statement on Saturday, firstly the utility abstracts water from the Vaal dam.
Secondly, the water is treated prior to being supplied to consumers, to comply to drinking water standards.
“Vigorous and continuous testing is conducted on both raw and tested bulk water, prior to distribution, even to municipalities.”
