Residents and visitors are sharing video footage of the Augrabies Waterfall, after last week’s heavy rains in the Northern Cape.
The Gamtoos Water Association said water flowing in the Orange river has nearly doubled to about 4.7 million litres per second passing over the falls.
The falls are called “Aukoerebis” by the Khoi people, meaning the Place of Great Noise.
The falls are also about 56 meters high and fall into a gorge 18 km long.
