The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) say allegations of corruption against Tshwane’s senior officials, has the ability to undermine public trust in governance.

At least two individuals and two companies are allegedly benefiting from supplying water tankers, at an estimated R777 million.

Those implicated are Eugene “Bonzo” Modise, Tshwane’s Deputy Mayor and Finance MMC, Rhulani James Shelenge, Sodi NJR Projects and Blackhead Consulting and Triotic Protection Services.

Abram Mashishi, Chairperson of SANCO in  Gauteng, said in a statement on Monday, “we therefore make a clarion call to the leadership at national level, to urgently intervene, institute credible investigations, and ensure that any leaders implicated in wrongdoing are subjected to organisational processes, without fear fear or favour.”

Mashishi also said similarly “continued impasse in the City of Johannesburg, between regional leadership structures and the Mayor, reflect a challenge of cohesion, discipline and collective responsibility.”
