Introducing our newest patient to the Pangolarium. Named in honor of late pangolin hero and warrior Fanie Masango, Sango is living up to the great name and proving to be just as strong of a fighter.
He is being closely monitored day and night by our team.
While the ordeal leading up to his rescue was traumatic and he was notably exhausted after no doubt a few days of fighting for freedom, Sango remains strong and in good health.
Very soon he will begin his process of returning to the wild where he belongs.
We’re grateful for the quick action of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and the South African Police Force (SAPS). Without teams and authorities like this putting boots on the ground to rescue these animals, far more would be lost to the illegal wildlife trade.
Stay tuned for updates on Sango’s rehabilitation. This little man is certainly geared and ready to go!
