Dams in the Garden Route increased dramatically, from the 11 – 18 May 2026.

The Garden Route District Municipality attributed the increase to rains during that week.

Noticeable increases were recorded at the Garden Route Dam: 88,7% (+4,1%), Korentepoort Dam: 59,0% (+3,4%) and Calitzdorp Dam: 100,4% (+1,3%).

Other dams with a healthy improvement in the area, include the Korentepoort (59%).

However, the  Akkerkloof dam in Knysna remains at a low of 21,7%.

Dams at a 100% full are the Wolwedans in Mosselbay, Haarlem in George, Duiwenhoks in Hassequa, Rhoodefontein in Bitou as well as Calitzdorp and Tierkloof in Kannaland.
