The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro said the construction of the Siwani/Sakwatsha road in KwaNobuhle, will cost in excess of R5 million.
The road was inaccessible, after storm water and sewage fell over and flooded the street.
The MMC committed to mobilize funding for the construction of the road to start.
The first phase of the project started late in October last year.
The scope of the total work includes the construction of the road with full layer works, kerbs, storm water drainage, and tar surfacing.
Yolisa Pali Jongilanga, Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Roads and Transport, said the first phase currently underway will cost more than R1.2 million.
The remaining phase will cost more than R4 million.
She said additional funding will be sourced to complete the 400 meter project.
Once received, the funding will further enhance the storm water systems and mitigate the impact of heavy rains.
