The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has advised against damaging winds for 4 Provinces, post voting day in South Africa.

The 4 Provinces are the Eastern and Southern parts of the Northern Cape, the South-Western parts of the Free State, the north-eastern parts of the Western Cape as well as the North-Western parts of the Eastern Cape.

A Yellow Level 2 warning was issued for these areas.

SAWS says predicted strong winds could lead to localised damage of temporary structures and loose debris blown around. There is also a risk of the rapid spreading of fires expected over the Eastern and Southern parts of Northern Cape and the South-Western parts of the Free State.

A Yellow level 1 warning for damaging winds over Hout Bay and Cape Agulhas, could possibly lead to difficulty in navigating at sea for small vessels and personal watercraft (e.g. kayaks).

An upper air Cut – Off low pressure system is developing on the Western side of South Africa. This is expected to bring cold and wet weather conditions to the Cape province and rough sea conditions (Swaicsa).
