A third suspect in the murder of the Marais couple, was arrested on Friday, in Zimbabwe, through cross border cooperation between South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Willie Aucamp, the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), applauded the arrest.
“This arrest demonstrates that our commitment to tracking down and apprehending every individual involved in this tragic crime was unwavering and resolute” said Aucamp.
Aucamp also said various agencies worked together to arrest the three- including the South African Police Service (SAPS), SANParks Rangers, Mozambique’s Criminal Investigation Directorate, and the Gonarezhou National Parks Rangers.
Two suspects were arrested in early June.
Ernest and Dina Marais from Mosel Bay were found murdered at the Kruger National Park, back in May. Their car was also missing.
