About eight slaughtered steenbok and two slaughtered rabbits, were found at the back of a bakkie, on Saturday.
The bakkie was parked on the R63 Road between Loxton and Carnarvon, when approached by the police.
They arrested three men, aged 19, 40 and 53.
Upon inspection of the stationary bakkie, officers saw blood on the load bin, which led them to the animals.
They also found knives covered in blood and two dogs inside the vehicle.
The men were arrested for illegal hunting.
The knives and the vehicle were confiscated, as they are believed to have been used in the crime.
Major General Norman’s Mtukushe, Police Commissioner of the Pixley aka Seme District, commended the officers for the arrests and also expressed gratitude to the community members for their support in fighting crime.
