Three investigators from the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), were suspended on Thursday.
Mmamoloko Kubayi, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development alongside Advocate Andy Mothibi, National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) announced at a press conference, on Thursday afternoon.
The three are Dylan Perumal, Brian Padayachee and Suneel Bellochun.
The suspensions follow allegations of misconduct which emerged at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, regarding IDAC and the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
Kubayi said IDAC would strengthen internal controls because it is only 18 months old.
She also shared the organisation’s demographic profile, in a bid to dispel rumours that it is dominated by prosecutors and investigators of Indian origin.
“The breakdown of Investigators are: 81.2% Africans (56), 7.3% coloureds (5), 10.1% Indians (7) and 1.5% white (1). The breakdown of Prosecutors are: 50% Africans (20), 17.5% Indian (7) and 32.5% white (13)” she said.
