Authorities urged all residents of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), to limit outdoor activities.
This follows severe smog and poor air quality due to wildfires in northwestern Ontario.
The Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Environment Canada issued an orange-level Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) warning for the GTA.
About four people were killed in Canada’s wild fires, thus far, while some 36 were injured.
Over 893 wildfires are active in Canada. Of these, 209 have spiralled out of control.
The Canadian Wildland Fire Information System said more aggressive fires which triggered mass evacuations of more than 1083 people, were in Ontario, Quebec, and the Northwest Territories.
Together those fires burnt nearly 3 million acres.
