Tropical storm Polo is expected to intensify.
Meteorologists warned that the storm, which made landfall late on Sunday, over southwestern parts of Mexico, could have wind speed exceeding 65 kilometres per hour.
It could also bring heavy rains and mudslides to coastal areas of that country.
The National Hurricane Center said the system is currently over the Pacific Ocean.
The storm could disrupt travelling in the Americas, including parts of Mexico, Brazil, the United States, Costa Rica and Panama.
