Two firefighters were injured in Mosselbay, as a fire raged on into Wednesday.
The main road- the N2 in Mosselbay is now open, after a brief closure, between the Langeberg Mall off‑ramp and Dana Bay.
Traffic officials are located at Island View, Vakansieplaas, Aalwyndal, and Voorbaai, to assist with safe movement and ongoing rerouting of traffic.
A Joint Operations Centre was activated to coordinate firefighting and evacuation efforts.
Residents in Island View, Vakansieplaas, and Aalwyndal were evacuated safely.
The Centre remains active to coordinate firefighting, evacuation, and humanitarian support across affected areas. They are the Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management Services (MBFRDM), together with Garden Route District Municipality (GRDM), Hessequa Municipality, George Municipality, and volunteer services (NSRI, Volunteer Wildfire Services, Community Policing Forum and neighbourhood watch groups).
Authorities also released a drone with infrared capabilities, to determine the extent of the fire and identify hotspots.
All humanitarian support must be directed to the Mossel Bay Fire Station (corner of Schoeman Street and Louis Fourie Road) and not to the fire scene.
