The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality informed residents of efforts to address the electricity outage.

Shadrack Sibiya: Acting Executive Director, Safety and Security, said on Wednesday, the Director of Electricity is hard at work to restore electricity supply.

An 11kV switchgear board failed, at the Kariega tollgate, due to internal busbar damages. Repair work is in progress, to relieve affected areas, including Kariega, Central, Kariega, CBD, College Hill, Cannon Hill, Vanes Estate, Fairbridge Heights, Van Riebeck Hoogte, Valleisig, Scheerpershoogte, Mosel, Janssendal, Riebeck College, HTS Technical College, Sections of KwaLanga and Sections of Rosedale.

Another 11kV feeder tripped, in Rosedale. The Municipality said a team is currently on-site attending to the fault.

Due to the flooding in KwaZakhele, the Municipality said several Central Distribution Units are under water.


The substations that serve Myali, Siwa, Mase and Meke Streets are all isolated.
A team has gone to site for safety measures and possible repairs however, the situation is still unsafe.
