uThukela District Municipality, is planning to drill a borehole to supply 3 areas within its jurisdiction.

Speaking to Earthnews365 (EN365), Jabulani Mkhonza, Spokesperson of the uThukela District Municipality, said the borehole is an attempt to address water shortages and interruptions that plague the area.

The company rolling up its sleeves is Mayibuye Drilling, set to drill in St Chad’s, where the borehole is located.

Mkhonza says the size of the borehole has not been established as yet, but 3 areas will benefit, Gudlintaba, Ncinjane and Ngonje.

“These are areas not receiving water supply as required.”

About eight boreholes have been drilled recently in Alfred Duma Local Municipality,  to supply water to nearby communities.

The next step is to test the water to ascertain if it is suitable for drinking.
