A veld fire broke out along the N1 near the 14th Avenue in Quellerina, on Friday evening.
It spread aggressively close to homes at around 8pm.
The SCP Private Fire Search and Rescue sent its teams to the fire, after receiving numerous calls.
Teams found the fire had spread rapidly hampering visibility on the N1.
They focused on containing areas closest to the highway first, before moving to the blaze approaching a residential area.
SCP security said on social media platforms “thanks to the team’s swift response and coordinated efforts, multiple sections of the fire were successfully extinguished, preventing further spread and reducing the risk to surrounding properties. We commend our dedicated Fire Search & Rescue team for their rapid response and commitment to protecting our community.”
