Risenga Maluleke, the Statistician-General of South Africa, is expected to release the results of the Victims of Crime report from the Governance, Public Safety and Justice Survey (GPSJS) 2024/25 at a media briefing on Tuesday, 26 August 2025, in Tshwane.

The report is expected to provide detailed crime statistics affecting households and individuals, including public perceptions of crime and feelings of safety.

Government said in May, crime statistics for the fourth quarter of the 2024/2025 financial year, included six attacks on rural communities, sexual offences, increased by between 19,1 and 19,9%, in Gauteng and KZN. Decreases reported in rape statistics, were in the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Northwest, and the Western Cape.

Commercial crime rose by 1,581 counts in the fourth quarter, representing a 4.7% rise. Gauteng (12,074) and the Western Cape (7,244) recorded the 7 highest numbers.
