A video filmed by Fight against Crime, showing a physical fight between two groups of minibus taxi drivers, went viral on social media platforms on Wednesday.
The video has left some commuters concerned about potential tensions flaring at Pinelands taxi rank.
This comes a day after SANTACO Western Cape called for peace in the industry, following two weeks of friction, violence and deaths.
Besuthu Ndungane, Provincial Chairperson of SANTACO Western Cape, welcomed commitments, by the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) and the Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA), to end taxi-related violence.
The commitments came after a stakeholder engagement held on Monday, with Rob Quintas, MMC of urban mobility in the City of Cape Town.
