Residents of Mangaung were notified of a pipe burst which left the Southern parts of the City without water.
In a letter to residents, the Acting City Manager, said at least 26 areas are affected.
The pipe burst is on the main line supplying water to Bloemfontein, between Dehoek and Uitkyk reservoirs.
Repair work is expected to last for 36 hours.
Work in Nocci, Kimberly, is expected to begin with fixing a pump. This will boost pressure in upper lying areas.
A statement from the Chamber of Commerce in Kimberly said ” we are going to monitor the situation in both Riverton and Newton, and give further instructions.”
Water supply interruptions are expected to continue between 21:00pm and 04:00am, until safe reserves are established .
Joburg water
Some parts of the City continue to experience low pressure water. Joburg Water said this is due largely to reservoirs that remain critically low. Areas that are struggling include those that receive water from Eikenhof pump station.
Matjhabeng local Municipality
Interruptions to water supply in Welkom began last week. A technical team from the Municipality said unattended water leaks were the main reason for shortages. This was exacerbated by a go-slow on Friday last week.
