South African Weather Services has issued an early alert of more rainfall this coming weekend for the Eastern Cape, South Coast of the Western Cape and the KwaZulu-Natal Province.

An upper trough accompanied by the cold front is developing, over the western parts of the country and is expected to intensify on Saturday, SAWS said.

Last weekend, rainfall was measured at between 100mm and 120mm in places like the Robinson Pass and about 50mm in Grootbrak, Mosselbay on Saturday and over 70 mm in George.

Dam levels of the Western Cape Supply System are at a combined 100,7%. This includes the Berg River, Steenbras Upper and Lower, Theewaterskloof, Voelvlei and Wemmershoek.

The Garden Route dam in George is at 100% compared to last year’s 59,1%.

Dams in the Eastern Cape are collectively at about 88%, compared to last year’s 74,2%.

Dams that are way below 50% full in the Eastern Cape are Darlington, Debe, Impofu and Nuwejaars.
