Johannesburg Water said consumption has overtaken supply immensely in some of Joburg’s water systems.
Such systems include those supplying affluent Linbro Park and Marlboro.
Johannesburg Water (JW) said as a result, it would shut water meters in Sandton, on Thursday, from 6pm until Friday, the 16th May 2025 at 5am.
This is implemented as part of its water demand management strategy to stretch distribution to struggling areas.
Another area with high consumption and low water levels in reservoirs, is the Commando system.
JW said the level of water in the Brixton tower is critically low.
Similarly, JW said it would need to shut water overnight to build capacity in the Hursthill reservoirs 1 and 2.
