The eThekwini Municipality has imposed restrictions for a day (Thursday the 16th January 2025) to residents supplied by the Firwood, Northdene, Shallcross, Klaarwater, and Chatsworth 4 Reservoirs.

The City said restrictions are due to emergency repairs to be undertaken on the 1,000 diameter bulk steel pipeline on Alpine Drive, ranging from the Northdene Reservoir to the Chatsworth 1 Reservoir.

Restrictions kick in at 6.30am until late.

The City said it expects the pipeline to be operational by Friday, the 17th January.

Water tankers will be dispatched to affected communities, including all sections in uMlazi, Nsimbini, Folweni, Golokodo and areas supplied by the Central Water Network Areas: Arena Park, Bayview, Buffels Bosch, Bulbul, Burlington Heights, Chatsworth Town Centre, Coedmore, Croftdene, Crossmoor, Ehlanzeni, Ezihyathini, Havenside, Hillary, Kharwastan, Klaarwater, Kwamgaga, Malvern, Mariann Industrial Park, Memorial Park, Mobeni Heights, Montford, Moorton, Moseley Park, Mount Vernon, Northdene, Queensburgh, Queensmead Industrial, Risecliff, Savannah Park, Shallcross, Silverglen, St Wendolins Ridge, Umhlatuzana, Welbedacht East, Welbedacht West, Westcliff, Woodhurst, Woodlands, and Yellowwood Park.
