UMngeni-uThukela Water Board has alerted residents of eThekwini to a water shutdown for 8 hours today, the 31st May 2024.
In a statement, the Water Board said the shutdown is to re-instate a full set of rehabilitated equipment on the bulk distribution pumps.
The shutdown is expected to start at 9am until about 5pm.
Affected reservoirs are expected to be filled prior to the shutdown of the High Lift Pumpstation, so there is a restricted amount of water available for consumption.
Areas affected by the shutdown include:
1.Sherwood 3 Reservoir: Bonela, Briardene, Claire Estate, Clare Hills, Garden Park, Morningside, Musgrave, Palmiet, Sherwood, Sparks, Springfield, Sydenham, Waterval Park, Westridge, and Wiggins.
2. Chesterville Reservoir: Blackhurst, Bonela, and Wiggins.
3. Ridgeview Reservoir: Bellair, Blackhurst, Cato Manor, Coedmore, Hillary, Mount Vernon, Bellair, Ridgeview, Sea View, Umkhumbane, University, and Wiggins.
4. St Thomas Reservoir: Essenwood, Morningside, Musgrave, Sparks, Sydenham, and Westridge.
5. Curries Road Reservoir: AK, Essenwood, Greyville, Musgrave, Old Fort, and Windermere.
6. North Ridge Reservoir: Essenwood Morningside, and Windermere.
7. Ridge End Reservoir: Morningside, Springfield, Stamford Hill, and Windermere.
8. Rosetta Reservoir: AK, Morningside, Stamford Hill, and Windermere.
9. Cato Manor Reservoir: Carrington Heights, Glenmore, Glenwood, Sea View, Umbilo, University, Westridge, and Wiggins.
10. South Ridge Reservoir: Bulwer, Glenwood, and Westridge.
11. Woodlands 1 & 2: Austerville, Montclair, Sea View, Wentworth, Woodlands, and Yellowwood Park.
12. Lamontville Reservoir: Havenside, Joe Slovo, Lamontville, Mobeni, Mobeni Heights, Prospecton Industrial, uMlazi V, and uMlazi Mission A.
13. Mobeni Reservoir: Durban Airport, Isiphingo Beach, Jacobs, Merebank East, Merewent, Mobeni, Mobeni West, Prospection Industrial, and Reunion.
