The first ever Westridge Rose Garden, is open to all families.
It is a partnership between senior citizens of Mitchells Plain and the City of Cape Town.

The wonder garden is a result of a “mini-pruning workshop” held earlier this year, where senior citizens gained hands-on skills to care for flowers.

These practical skills, were taught by the City’s horticultural team.

Patricia Van Der Ross, Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, said “the Westridge Rose Garden is a shining example of how our community can come together to cultivate beauty and pride in our public spaces. The dedication of our seniors is inspiring and to see the garden flourish under their care is a testament to the effort they’ve invested.”

Zandiswa Qoma, Head of Horticulture for the area, said, “the roses are a symbol of what can be achieved when we work together to nurture and preserve our green spaces. It’s a privilege to see the results of our seniors’ hard work and we look forward to continuing our efforts in keeping the garden in bloom for all to enjoy.”

The Westridge Rose Garden is on display for this season.
It is a family-friendly picnic site, with leisure walks and ample photo opportunities.
