With temperature levels dropping, Eskom has assured residents of no loadshedding.
Daphne Mokwena, Eskom Spokesperson said yesterday marked day 100 without loadshedding.
She also said, the network becomes overloaded during Winter.
Eskom also lauded its Generation Recovery Plan, for securing more reliable, efficient and available coal generation fleet.
The plan has led to a decrease in the rate of unplanned outages. The available capacity is about 32, 816 MW.
The Winter forecast anticipates a likely scenario of 15, 500 MW.
Cold weather is expected across the country tomorrow.
Coldest areas in South Africa at the moment are Wepener (-7.9°), Bloemfontein (-7.7°), Ficksburg (-7.2°), according to a popular weather social media site, Your Weather by AfriWx.
Kevin Rae, of the South African Weather Service (SAWS) said in a statement yesterday, a cold snap is expected to affect South Africa from Sunday until Tuesday as a series of cold fronts impact the Cape provinces from Sunday onwards (7 to 11 July 2024).
There are several weather warnings, including an intense cold front that is expected to affect the western and central parts of the country from tomorrow, Sunday, 7 July 2024, and the eastern parts from Monday, 8 July 2024.
Snow is expected over the southern and western high ground, accompanied by damaging winds over the interior as well as the coastline.
In addition, high seas are expected along the coastal areas and very cold conditions over a significant part of the country.
Heavy rainfall is also expected over the western parts of the Western Cape.
Widespread rainfall can be expected over parts of the Western and Northern Cape provinces from Sunday, with heavy rain leading to possible flooding over the western parts of the Western Cape.
Strong winds (30 to 50 km/h) are expected over large parts of the country on Sunday, especially in the Cape provinces and the central interior, including the Free State and North West.
Very rough and high seas (with wave heights of 6,0 to 9,0m) are expected along the Western Cape and Northern Cape coast on Sunday, spreading to the coast of the Eastern Cape in the evening.
