Up to 16% of the moon is expected to appear on Saturday, the February 21, 2026.

This is called the “Waxing Crescent phase” not a full moon. 

According to Moongiant, this phase represents the early stage of the lunar cycle, where the sunlit portion of the moon increases daily.

The SA Astronomical Observatory, advise viewing at least 33–46 minutes after sunset.

The next full moon, also known as the “Worm Moon,” is scheduled for March 3, 2026. 

It will be a total lunar eclipse, also called the “blood moon.”
