Eskom will be switching off electricity supply to Gqeberha’s largest plant, the Nooitgedagt Water Treatment Works, on Wednesday, 15 January, from 06:00 to 18:00.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, said during this time, Eskom will be doing critical repairs to the supply line.

Efforts will be made to ensure most storage reservoirs are filled, to minimize the risk of water disruptions.

But the Municipality also said it would deploy water tankers if necessary.

The plant receives water from Scheepersvlakte Dam via a pipeline.
Once water is disinfected, an estimated 210 Ml per day, is supplied to the Port Elizabeth, Motherwell, Uitenhage and Despatch.
