Rain was measured at 500mm in the past 7 days, in Haenertsburg and surrounding areas.

A resident, Lionel Invernizzi, shared pictures on social media, of flooded Limpopo and Shashe Rivers.

On Friday, when the Limpopo River was beginning to fill up, the Leeudraai Safari in Limpopo, said on social media, “every once a year, the Limpopo River, starts to flow, it starts to reach the trees on the small islands in the middle of the river, the trees start turning white from drowning.
They bounce back once water levels return to normal.”

More rain is expected in Limpopo and the extreme southwestern parts of Mpumalanga on Monday.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against disruptive rainfall (level 5) leading to flooding of roads and settlements (formal and informal), damage to property, infrastructure,
loss of livelihood and livestock, and major disruption of traffic flow due to major roads being flooded or closed.
