The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) is planning a 24-hour water shutdown in areas supplied by the Churchill System.

Maintenance work on the system, is expected to commence on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, and will last for about 24 hours.
The Metro said water users should prepare for low water pressure or no water supply during the maintenance period, in  Walmer 7th Avenue up to 17th Avenue, Walmer township, parts of Walmer heights, Walmer downs, Charlotte, Overbaakens, Newton park, Parts of Fairview suburb and Higher lying areas of Schauderville.

This planned maintenance and upgrade of activities along the Churchill system , is expected to ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of water supply infrastructure in the area.

The Metro said it would take all necessary measures to ensure that reservoir levels are maximised prior to the shutdown.
