The National Energy Regulator (NERSA) has extended the deadline to members wanting to join the newly formed Electricity Market Advisory Forum (EMAF).
This follows a meeting held on 29 April 2025, where the Forum was approved, according to the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No. 4 of 2006) (as amended) (‘the ERA’).
The forum is expected to advise NERSA on various matters related to the establishment of a competitive electricity market.
Members will be appointed by, and accountable to, the Energy Regulator with an approved term of reference.
NERSA said in a statement “on 2 July 2025, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) issued a notice on its website calling for nominations for the EMAF. Since then, numerous requests have been received to extend the deadline for the submission of nominations. In consideration of these requests, the deadline has been extended to 23:59 on 31 July 2025.”
