An official investigation is underway in Plettenberg Bay, following a third structural fire, this year, in Bossisgif, on Monday.
About 84 to 90 households, went up in flames.
As a result, 183 people were displaced, including 69 children, many of whom are currently writing or preparing for their final exams.
The Bitou Municipality said in a statement on Tuesday, it is working at procuring emergency building materials to help families to start reconstruction.
Civil society groups and individuals are providing humanitarian aid.
The fire has also damaged electrical infrastructure, leading to a widespread outage in the area, since Monday afternoon.
Andile Namntu, Spokesperson of the Bitou Municipality, said in a statement “the Municipality is deeply concerned about the frequency and impact of fire incidents, which are traumatic, disruptive, and costly. We urge all residents to work hand in hand with us to prevent future tragedies. Together, we can build a safer, more resilient community.”
