Hundreds of people were displaced after a storm destroyed more than 115 homes, on Friday evening.
Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, MEC at the KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), said in a statement on Saturday, the eMadlangeni, Dannhauser, and Newcastle Local Municipalities were worst affected.
The storm struck with heavy rains, large hail, and gale-force winds.
Preliminary reports indicate that 30 of the 115, were completely destroyed, in Dannhauser.
An additional 20 more homes were destroyed in eMadlangeni (Utrecht) Wards 2, 3, and 5. Three people were injured and are receiving urgent medical care.
Displaced people are housed at the Osizweni Community Hall, in Newcastle.
Assessments are underway in Dundee and surrounding areas, where infrastructure and trees were uprooted.
