Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, the MEC of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KZN, is expected to visit flooded areas in Jozini, in northern KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday morning.

Low-lying areas in Zululand and Umkhanyakude Districts were badly affected.

Recorded rising water levels are in Umhlabuyalingana, Nongoma and parts of Jozini.

Buthelezi said “as Government, we remain committed that our province navigates these difficult weather conditions with minimal disruption and loss.”

He appealed to parents and guardians to ensure learners use safer and accessible routes to get to school.

The South African Weather Services warned against level 2 heavy downpours over Limpopo, Mpumalanga, parts of north eastern KwaZulu Natal and eastern parts of Gauteng.

Disruptive rains are expected to continue at an orange level 9, over the northern escarpment and Lowveld of Mpumalanga.

There is also a Level 6 warning against downpours over central parts of Limpopo and eastern highveld of Mpumalanga.
