Motorists are urged not to cross the Keisie River, which is flooded, without the presence of officials and volunteers from the Montagu Fire and Rescue Service.
Resident Hilde Birkin, shared pictures of a flooded area, thankful to God for the rain.
This follows about 100 mm of rainfall received between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
Motorists are urged to remain cautious on the scenic R62 road due to flash floods.
Other residents expressed relief similar to Birkin, following strained resources, such as the Vrekhoek and De Hoop schemes, and the small Koos Kok Dam.
It is still too soon to know the impact of the rain on the main source of supply for the town- the Breede River.
The town demands at least 11,000 kl everyday from the system, exceeding supply of 10,000 kl/day.
As a result, the Langeberg Municipality imposed restrictions.
Several roads are closed in and around the town, as a result of flash floods, the Bridge, R62/Long Street at the entrance into Montagu from Ashton, the Low Water Bridge, Eyssen Street and the Low Water Bridge, Bath Str. at De Bos.
