The dewatering of the Ekapa Minerals mine is underway in the Northern Cape.
It is expected that once this exercise is completed, bodies of five miners trapped underground, will be retrieved.
The five were trapped, by a mudrush eleven days ago.
The community held a night vigil, praying for their recovery.
Gwede Mantashe, Minister of Minerals and Petroleum, visited the mine’s management last weekend.
He said their bodies must far underground.
Mantashe is expected to receive an updated progress report from the Department’s inspectors, mine management, and rescue teams on developments related to the rescue operation, during his visit to Kimberley, on Saturday.
