Several areas across at least fourteen Municipalities, will be affected by Eskom’s maintenance, at Palmiet and Zuikerbosch sites.

Work is expected to begin as from this coming Friday, the 29 May and 17 July 2026.

Makenosi Maroo, Spokesperson of Rand Water, said Eskom wants to fix electrical infrastructure at the plants, which are essential for ensuring system reliability.

“The planned maintenance activities are necessary to improve pump availability and standby capacity. They also enhance operational flexibility across key Rand Water systems, reduce the risk of plant trips and equipment failures” she said.

Affected Municipalities are Mogale City, Rand West, Merafong, Rustenburg, Madibeng, Lesedi, Victor Khanye, Govan Mbeki, Thembisile Hani, Midvaal, Emfuleni, Metsimaholo, Ngwathe and Royal Bafokeng Administration.

Various industries, mines and direct customers, including Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) may also be affected.

Phase 1 of maintenance will affect Johannesburg Water’s Midrand, Soweto, Deep South, Randburg, Roodepoort, Commando, Sandton, and Central systems.

Areas in Ekurhuleni Include Kempton Park, Edenvale, Bedfordview, Germiston, Benoni, Wattville, Boksburg, Katlehong, Thokoza, Dawnview, Fishers Hill, Solheim, Sunnyrock, Brackendowns, Brackenhurst, Meyersdal, Alrode, and the upper parts of Eden Park.

Affected areas in Tshwane include Mamelodi (extensions included), Equestria, Silver Lakes, Shere, Willow Acres, Nellmapius, Faerie Glen, Garsfontein, Lynnwood, Menlyn, Faerie Glen, Queenswood, and Pretoria East.
