The Chatty Reservoir is running low.

As a result, this has led to water supply challenge at Rosedale, Perridgevale and Langa areas.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Metro said adjustments were made at the treatment works, and turbidity levels have improved.

Pumping into affected areas started on Tuesday evening, and the situation is expected to recover gradually.

The Metro said it is concerned about Motherwell whose reservoir levels are at an estimated 50%.

Tiryville and surrounding areas also do not have water, due to floods two weeks ago.

The Metro’s water services department said its teams are increasing water supply from the Nooitgedacht Water Scheme whilst operating the Kabah Water Treatment plant.

This is expected to boost reservoir levels and therefore distribution.

Babalwa Lobishe, Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Metro, said “although the system has recovered to above 80%, we still have areas like Tiryville and a few high-lying areas in Kariega that are still affected.”

Lobishe also said teams are working to restore water by this weekend.
