Severe thunderstorms accompanied by damaging winds at Level 2, are expected over at least five provinces, on Wednesday.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said such conditions will persist over the central and western parts of the Free State and North West, eastern and south-eastern Northern Cape, as well as the extreme western parts of the Eastern Cape, and north-eastern Western Cape.
These conditions might result in localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges.
The Weather service also said there is a possibility of large amounts of small hail.
Similar yet lesser conditions, are expected over the western and southern KwaZulu-Natal.
This is while a heatwave is forecast over most parts of the Eastern Cape, putting further strain on water levels in dams.
The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality said it is making steady progress in tackling water losses and strengthening the metro’s water system through ongoing repairs and response efforts.
To date about 21, 283 water leaks were repaired in the City.
Residents are encouraged to continue reporting leaks, as dam levels are expected to drop below the critical 40% threshold.
