Motorists are urged to avoid parts of the N12 Westbound (heading towards Soweto), as traffic is diverted at the R59 Reading Interchange.
The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) also said traffic on the N12 Eastbound (heading toward Alberton) would be sent to Kliprivier Drive.
This is due to a gas tanker which caught fire on the N12 West, just before the Comaro Road off-ramp, on the N12 Highway in the Bassonia area.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) urged motorists to rather use alternative routes: the M1 North/South via the Booysens area, R59 through Alberton and Kliprivier Drive.
