Dada Morero, Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, is expected to launch the newly completed Brixton Reservoir and Water Tower Project, on Wednesday.

The project has a 26-megalitre ground reservoir, a 2-megalitre elevated water tower, a 200- litre-per-second pump station, and associated pipeline infrastructure.

Beneficiaries are the Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, Helen Joseph Hospital, the University of Johannesburg, and the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

Joburg Water said this critical infrastructure forms part of the Commando Water Supply System and will substantially improve water storage capacity, supply stability, and service reliability for residents, businesses, and key institutions.

The area was formerly plagued by water supply challenges.

Ntshavheni Mukwevho, the Managing Director of Joburg Water, said back in March 2026, the Commando systems is always hardest hit by interruptions that occur on the Eikenhof system…”

He also said the new system, would stabilize supply and build resistance.
