Flood stricken areas were declared a National disaster by the Department of Cooperative Governance, this week.

Bongani Sithole, Head of the National Disaster Management Centre, said this action is divides for parts of the Western Cape, North West, Free State, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Mpumalanga.

He said the classification is in terms of Section (15)2 A of the Disaster Management Act of 2002.

Moreover, he called upon organs of state to submit reports, as required by the centre.
