Severe winds blew trees and branches, which led to the obstruction of roads in Greyton and Genendal areas.

Power lines were also damaged, as a result.

A tree fell onto the roof of a house in Voorstekraal.

The Municipality said its teams are currently removing sheeting from the roadway near the Riviersonderend Solid Waste Transfer station, after the roof was blown off.

Multiple formal and informal structures were damaged in Riviersonderend, including a shack structure, which blew over to the N2 near Siyanyanzela in  Grabouw.

Similarly, a fallen tree obstructed traffic in Human Street below Nerina Hostel.

The Animal Welfare Society of SA said teams have been working tirelessly in affected communities, assisting pets and families in distress, while other staff members remain on-site, to manage the extensive damage to property.

Heavy rains and winds caused significant damage to the hospital.

The hospital urgently needs donations of  food for dogs, cats, rabbits, blankets, towels and cat litter trays.

Similarly strong winds also uprooted trees, to major routes.

This has led to difficult driving conditions along l routes, such as the N2 around the Kei Cuttings.

Tree branches and debris blew onto the roadway, posing a risk to minibus taxis and bakkies.

Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution as adverse weather conditions persist across the Cape.
