The G7 got underway in France, this week.
G7 nations are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the US.
Leaders discussed the work underway to expand a new strategic partnership across trade, energy, climate and technology.
Canada joined the EU’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) – becoming the first non-European nation to become part of the initiative.
Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, said on Monday evening, “Canada is truly the most European of the non-European countries. We are working together on digital trade, critical raw materials, and defence. We are also stepping up our cooperation on energy. Our next Summit, on 29–30 October in Canada, will be a major milestone in a partnership that continues to grow deeper and broader.”
Other discussions centred around the war in Ukraine, the protection of children, the fight against organised crime and governance.
The agenda also included critical mineral supply chains, development financing, artificial intelligence, online safety for minors, major geopolitical crises, including in the Middle East.
The French foreign ministry also ensured talks about cancer become a priority.
