Five (5) suspects, including four males and a female, aged between 30 and 50, were arrested for contravening the Marine Living Resources Act, in the Northern Cape, this week.

The men were in an unlawful possession of four springbok and four quails without a valid permit.

They were discovered during a compliance inspection at Port Nolloth, Hondeklip Bay, Koingnaas, Kommagas, Kleinzee and Alexander Bay.

Police also said the men were caught  selling, delivering or acquiring fish without a valid invoice. 

Fines amounting to R16,000.00 were issued.

The my are expected to appear in court, for non-compliance of the Northern Cape Nature Conservation Act.
