A minor fire occurred at the Bertha Gxowa hospital in Ekurhuleni, on Friday morning, just after 8am.
The Gauteng Department of Health said the fire was “minor” and did not disrupt clinical services and customer care.
Steve Mabona, Spokesperson of the Department of Health in Gauteng, said the incident occurred after a power outage at around 4am.
“At approximately 8am, a mechanical fault involving a turbo component of the standby generator resulted in a minor fire” he said.
Randpark Ridge
There were no fatalities and injuries recorded in a structural fire at the corner of Kowie Road and Baleta Road in Randpark Ridge, on Friday evening.
The SCP Private Search and Rescue team and Emergency Management Services (EMS) responded to the fire.
They used multiple fire engines to extinguish the blaze.
